ABOUT THE PROJECT...

This was the first cafe I created for The Big Shoulders team. We wanted to develop a space that was very different than the existing Chicago Ave location and more reflective of The Loop neighborhood, while developing an unspecifed thread that would connect the spaces together.

We wanted the spaces to "feel" like a Big Shoulders cafe, even though each space would have a different design aesthetic and atmosphere.

This became the design theory for every Big Shoulders Cafe  moving forward;  

Each cafe will have an individual design identity reflective of the neighborhood where it's located, yet will feel connected to each other and the Big Shoulders brand.

For this cafe we incorporated certain design elements from the first space on Chicago Ave., yet interpreted each element in a different way and added different types of seating experiences and  finishes to reflect the energy and community of The Loop.
